C4C was part of the Workshop “Extracellular Vesicles In Biomedicine”.

Researchers worldwide and nationally meet online to share their work and discoveries.

This week three researchers from our team participated in the workshop organized by the Center for Biomedical Research and Innovation (CIIB) of the Universidad de los Andes.

The event was held online and the speakers representing Cells for Cells (C4C) were the researchers: Maroun Khoury, Aliosha Iván Figueroa and Francisca Alcayaga.

Maroun Khoury, Scientific Director of C4C, presented his work with mesenchymal stem cells. This research opens a new possibility for cell therapy, as it can be transformed into an “acellular” or organelle-based treatment transferred for therapeutic purposes.

On the other hand, Aliosha Iván Figueroa, research assistant at C4C, was part of the workshop “Extracellular Vesicles In Biomedicine”, in which a culture medium developed and patented by C4C/Regenero, called OxiumEXO, was presented. “We have demonstrated that OxiumEXO allows the production of three to four times more vesicles compared to a traditional culture medium,” he explained. This instance allowed interaction with researchers who are also studying the effects of this type of vesicles and their potential use in medicine.

The workshop “Extracellular Vesicles In Biomedicine” was attended by researchers from England, Brazil, the United States, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Ireland and Chile. It was a virtual instance that allowed the exchange of knowledge on the Biomedicine works that are being carried out worldwide.
